Clark Hot Air Balloon Festival

Google for the photo
The 2011 Clark Hot Air Balloon Festival will start on the 10th of February and it will end on the 13th of February. We have been staying here in Angeles City for almost ten years, but I never got the chance to witness this wonderful festival of hot air balloons.

But this year will be different, we plan to bring the kids to the festival for them to experience the yearly hot air balloon event in Clark Pampanga. According to hubby, we have to be there as early as 530 in the morning to get a good spot and stay away from the traffic; or else we would not enjoy the event.

We plan to go there on the last day of the event which is the 13th of February, as part of the birthday celebration of my dear hubby. So it means that no late night TV watching this coming Saturday to make sure that we are up early. I am just so excited about the event, and I will definitely keep you posted on what will happen during that day.

I Thank God For You

Every time hubby celebrates his birthday, I make it appoint to give him something beyond material things. I wrote this two years ago as a birthday present for my hubby. Now he is about to celebrate his birthday this 12th of the love month, I thought of publishing this "Thank You" letter that I gave him.

This letter would also serve as my entry to Pinay Mommy Online Thanksgiving Giveaway contest. It is about enumerating things that we should be thankful for. I guess the theme reminded me again of the many wonderful things that has happened in my life for the past years.

This simple letter for my hubby would tell how thankful I was and still am for having found the person who makes me so happy and contented. A lot of trials and blessing came our way as a couple but here we are proving our detractors wrong, and living the life that we have been dreaming to have.

We would like to thank all the sponsors of Pinay Mommy Online's Thanksgiving Giveaway!!

First Aid Kit a Must in Every Home

jet's chest
Accidents happen no matter how careful you are especially if you have kids at home. Last night, my eldest son who is almost 12 years accidentally spilled hot water into himself. What is he doing? he was preparing his specialty, cooking pasta noodles for the spaghetti. This young man is fond of cooking (which I like because he can help me out), and for his teacher's birthday he decided to prepare spaghetti for her.

our first aid kit
Good thing, I make it appoint that we have first aid kit at home. Since the little boys can get rowdy most of the times, bumps and bruises are becoming normal ocurences at home. But this is the first time (hoping it would be the last!) that one of my kids would experience getting burnt. What are the first aid kit essentials? Well here is a short list of must have in your first aid kit:
  • Band aids and gauzes to cover cuts and burns
  • Cotton balls and cotton swabs for cleaning and application of ointments and antiseptics
  • Antibacterial  ointments and creams to prevent setting of wounds
  • Antiseptics (alcohol and povidone-iodine) to clean the wounds
  • Pain reliever medicines and other over the counter medicines like paracetamol, cough and cold medicines and anti-diarrhea medicines (most especially if you live far away from the nearest drugstore)
  • Thermometer to take body temperature easily.
When hubby arrived we brought him to the clinic where hubby's sis-in-law practice (thanks Glo and Jayar) and we have Jet injected with anti-tetanus and he was prescribed antibiotics to make sure that there will be no complications. We also got Jet a medical certificate to present in school.

Another valuable Mommy lessons learned in this experience, kids are kids and no matter how passionate they are in cooking as much as possible we don't allow them to do it unsupervised. (I'm a bad Mom! awts) Of course, also have a first aid kit at home because we don't know what accidents may happen. Lastly, remain calm and stay in charge even if the situation may cause you to panic, do not panic.

TCP: Yours,Mine,Ours

Google for the photo

Since it's the  love month the TCP theme for this week is about Familial Love. It is the first kind of love that most of us have felt. There are several movies of this kind, but what I chose is the "Yours,Mine,Ours" as my TCP entry for this week's theme. I can somehow relate in this movie (lol!).

The movie plot is quite simple, it is about two widowed parents who fell in love with one another. The conflict arise when each parent have their set of kids; 10 kids for Mom and 8 kids for Dad. Their kids obviously are having a hard time to accept the situation. Although each set of kids hate the other, they came into a compromise to make a scheme to make the marriage end.

Just imagine how chaotic it would be if you have 18 kids under one roof. That could be a handful and can be quite difficult to handle. I have my own two kids and hubby has one, plus our own child; in total we have four kids and all of them are boys. When they get rowdy, it can be quite stressful!

Capturing the Emotions of a Mason's Wife

A Letter From a Mason's Wife

Author Unknown
Dear Sir,

How many wives of Masons
Have given very much thought,
To the wonderful Biblical lessons
That Masonry has taught?

Have you asked yourself this question?
When you sit alone at night?
While hubby is away at Lodge,
“Is my reasoning wrong or right?”

The nights are lonely and long, I know,
But then this thought occurred to me,
“If my husband wasn’t a Mason,
What kind of man would he be?”

They call us “Masonic Widows,”
I’ve been one for many a year,
I have spoken my piece on lonely nights
And even berated my hubby dear.

But sometime later, I regret those words,
And with compassion try to see,
“If my husband wasn’t a Mason,
What kind of man would he be?”

I attempt to be a patient wife,
And while alone I meditate,
I try to see his point of view,
It’s only fair; after all he is my mate.

I always knew what the situation was
It’s really not something new,
So why complain after all this time,
I’m sure I speak for you.

Some say that men make Masonry
And this I understand,
But deep in my heart I am still convinced,
It’s Masonry that makes the man.

As we journey along our highway together,
Finding the inner dreams of life,
I pray Masonic ideals keep him the way he is.
Yours truly, a Mason’s wife.

This particular poem from an Unknown Author really captured the emotions and thoughts of a Mason's wife. Now that my hubby is a Mason, I know that he will keep up with the high morals of the people in the organization. I have never been confident and assured since my husband was transformed from a good man to a better man.
